The winter testing is done. The offseason is officially over. It is time to go racing. A new Pirelli GT4 America race season is here, and Seth Lucas is ready to attack 2022 in a full season campaign. Joining the Hattori Motorsports program and piloting a Toyota Supra, Lucas will travel to the famed Sonoma Raceway in Napa, California for his first green flag of a new season of competition.
“I am excited. I am anxious. But most of all, I am just ready to get going,” explained Lucas. “This is a new program and a new car for me, but I feel that we have made huge progress in our offseason test efforts, and I look forward to watching all the hard work pay off.”
Running the complete Pirelli GT4 America season, Lucas will race in the SprintX category alongside veteran driver Matt Plumb. With goals and expectations set, the first challenge will come this weekend in California.
Lucas continued, “We have a Series Test Day on Thursday that will help a new program like ours. The extra 90 minutes of track time will allow us to learn the track, fine tune our equipment and get up to speed before Friday’s official practice. All in all, we will have four practice sessions before qualifying which should be ample time to give us the best opportunity to get on the same level as more experienced programs.”
Saturday morning will be the home of SprintX qualifying before the first sixty minute race of the season goes green Saturday afternoon. A quick turnaround will see Lucas, Plumb and their Hattori Motorsports entry back on the grid Sunday morning for the second race of the season and weekend as they aim to challenge for podium results and race wins.
Lucas added, “Whatever happens, I can’t thank Toyota and Hattori Motorsports for all the hard work. Let’s go racing.”
