After competing in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar weekend at Road America less than two weeks ago, Seth Lucas will return to the Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin facility this weekend for the next rounds in the 2023 Fanatec GT World Challenge Presented by AWS season. Taking on the 4.048-mile, 14-turn facility with MDK Motorsports and his teammate Trenton Estep, the program sits third in the championship points battle.
“It has been nearly two months since our last World Challenge race, so we are ready to get back after it,” expressed Lucas. “While it may have been two months without a race, I know everyone was hard at work massaging our Porsche machine and looking for the extra speed that will help propel us to the top.”
With Road America being the longest circuit on the schedule, it will be important to have the straightaway speed to race the other teams, drivers, and manufacturers but also the grip to increase cornering speed and decrease the overall lap time. Earning five podium results so far this season, Lucas and Estep are looking for their first win and that could come in The Dairy State this weekend.
Lucas added “A huge thank you to Porsche, Motul and MDK Motorsports for all the help and continued support. It is never easy with a new program but with a team like MDK and partners such as Motul and Porsche, we have had some success.”
With a pair of test sessions on the schedule for Thursday, Friday will feature official practice. Saturday will see qualifying in the morning before the first race of the weekend rolls off the grid later in the afternoon with Sunday afternoon providing the backdrop for the second wheel-to-wheel race of the weekend.
