It’s the final event weekend of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS program and the final opportunity for Seth Lucas and co-driver Trenton Estep to stand atop the podium. With multiple podium results to their credit in 2023, the MDK Motorsports duo are looking to end the season in style, at the holy grail of motorsports, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“It has been a long, but good season,” explained Lucas. “I think as a rookie team in the series and me as a rookie driver, we have performed well. While I would still like to get the win that we have been missing, we do have that chance this weekend in Indy. While my 2024 plans are not yet sorted, I look to enjoy the final event that I currently have on this season’s calendar, but I know we are working to add some more.”
Entering the weekend with a wave of momentum that includes a podium result and a pair of top-five finishes at the Sebring International Raceway, Lucas and Estep have set realistic goals for this coming weekend.
Lucas continued, “We need to keep the car clean in practice and execute when it counts. I think if we can nail our pit stops and increase our race pace just a little, we can take the fight to the teams and drivers at the front of the field. The team is there, and they have brought forth the effort, we just need to put everything together on race day.”
Unlike other weekends that feature a pair of sprint-style races, Indianapolis will feature one wheel-to-wheel race taking place on Saturday afternoon. As a support class on the Indianapolis 8-Hour event weekend, Lucas and Estep will hit the track on Wednesday for a pair of test sessions prior to evening practice on Thursday. Friday will feature a final practice session before qualifying and the Pole Position Shootout before the race on Saturday at 12:15pm EDT.
